About Me

I'm a 25 year old budding game designer. I specialize in game programming and system design.

My favourite genre is RPG's (more recently MMORPGs).
My favourite game platform is PC (used to be Nintendo until they lost the rights to Final Fantasy)
I love competitive games such as fighting games or MMOG's with PvP. Anything that pits me against an opponent in a contest of skill.
I'm also a tabletop gamer. I've played Dungeons and Dragons, a number of the World of Darkness games, and the StarWars tabletop system too (a couple versions of each). I also play Warhammer occasionally (Eldar Biel-Tan for 40K and Beastmen for Fantasy).

MMOG's I've played: Ultima Online, Everquest, Everquest2, StarWars: Galaxies, World of Warcraft, Dungeons and Dragons Online, Lord of the Rings Online, Guild Wars, Age of Conan.
Other games I've recently played:
Neverwinter Nights 2, Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines, Super Smash Brothers: Melee, Guitar Hero 3

Educational Background
Video Game Design and Development
This program taught me everything about making games. From concept to retail sales and everything in between. I went into the course with just some basic self-taught programming knowledge and came out as not only a better programmer, but I also learned a thing or two about creating and selling a game concept, marketing, game journalism, 3d modelling, level design, flowcharts and UML, working with engines, QA/testing and more.

Why I make games
I've always been fascinated by the numbers and inner workings of games. Every game I play, I end up disecting into tables and formulas. When I got into tabletop gaming, I started experimenting to create my own rules system, improving on the store-bought systems. I also created my own fantasy world setting to go along with it. With my discovery of the BASIC programming language in grade 9, it consumed my life. It didn't take long for me to decide to pursue game design as a profession.

What makes me stand out?
I think differently. When someone asks me "What is 2 + 2?" I get the answer, but then I also think "1+3 is also 4... 0+4 is also 4... 4+0=4... 3+1=4... 1+1+2=4... 2+1+1=4..." etc. What does this mean? Well, it works very well for my chosen fields of programming and system design. It helps me find more effective ways of achieving the desired results, and it helps me find holes in code or systems before they become a problem.
